Ponies must be shown in a snaffle bit. Ridden stallions MUST display a stallion bridle marker available from the NPS office or from any other society.   Whiskers are not to be trimmed for any breed. 

The National Pony Society (NPS) is a UK-based organisation dedicated to promoting the breeding, showing, and welfare of native British ponies and breeds. Founded in 1898, it focuses on preserving and encouraging the development of native pony breeds such as the Welsh, Shetland, Fell, Dales, and others.

This competition is open to stallions, mares and geldings, 4 years old and over, to be registered in the main body of their respective stud book. Riders and Owners must be members of their respective Breed Society, NPS, UK Ponies & Horses.
This class is a qualifying class for Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham, 7th – 11th October 2026.  Qualification will not pass below 3rd place.  

Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office.

In Hand stallions (2 years old and over) must be adequately bitted and are advised to display a stallion bridle marker.
