International Eventing

Eventing is a three-phase sport with its roots in military history. The modern three-day event consists of a dressage test to demonstrate harmony between horse and rider, balance, suppleness, training and willingness. This takes place on the first day. 

The exciting cross-country phase takes place on the second day, and horse and rider combinations jump at speed over substantial fixed obstacles in the spectacular setting of Scone Palace’s park and grounds alongside the River Tay.

This is a test of fitness, bravery (of horse and rider), accuracy, speed and training and is thrilling to watch.

On the third and final day - after a veterinary inspection to ensure horses are still in peak physical condition - competitors must tackle a round of showjumps in the main arena.

 This requires athleticism, accuracy, skill and obedience.

Scone Palace International Horse Trials offers a range of classes for horses and riders progressing through the sport, from Ponies (CCIP2*-S) through to CCI4*.
